In the Age of Exploration, when Marco Polo travelled actively around the world, Japan was called Zipang, the land of gold, and attracted foreign people's interest.

Six hundred years have passed since that time, and Japan today enjoys the third largest economy in the world in GDP, holds the population of 130 million and has a large market with a good quality.

While Japan has a history of more than 2,000 years with unique traditional arts and culture, it also has such cultures of its own as newly developed "Manga," "Anime" and "character (mascot) culture," which are represented by an expression "Cool Japan." Such contemporary hybrid culture of Japan, mixture of old and new, might be one of the attractive points when viewed from overseas countries.

On the other hand, there are some mild complaints saying that it is not easy to get into Japanese market since Japan is an isolated island country, where English is not used commonly and its own particular business customs and traditions are adopted.
Other people may be bothered, on the contrary, not knowing how to import Japanese traditional products without proper information, if the dealers of such products would not try to promote their businesses in their countries.
